Wine tasting and historical tour in Priorat

The region of Priorat owes its name to the first Carthusian comunity founded in the Iberian Peninsula. Know about the origin of this area which has one of the most beautiful landscapes in Catalonia. Vineyards and little mediaeval villages go with us in every step along this region.

We will visit Escaladei Carthusina monastery, founded in the 12th century for the Carthusian monks coming from Provence. The monks found in Priorat a perfect place to develop their spiritual life, at the feet of Monstant Mountain.

Before going on with our route we will visit one of the many wineries of the Priorat Certificate of Origin: Cellers Scala Dei , where we will see their premises and their vineyards, as well as tasting some of their wines.

To finish our tour, we will go to the cute village of Siurana, placed in a privileged location: on a crag with spectacular bird’s eye views to the Priorat and to the water reservoir of Siurana. The streets of this village, its houses and its historical legacy, such as the Romanesque church and the Castle remains still preserve their mediaeval loveliness. Siurana is very well known for the legend about the jump of the Moorish Queen, since Siurana was the last Muslim settlement in Catalonia, reconquered in the year 1154.
