La teva ruta | Mª Carme Granados | Escornalbou Barony tour

Escornalbou Barony tour

Escornalbou Barony was a dominion created after the Christian Reconquest and after the foundation of the Monastery Castle of Escornalbou. The Barony was formed by several villages. We will visit some of them:

Riudecanyes: Capital of the old Barony. We will walk around the streets which are called according to the days of the week. We will visit the Renaissance church of Saint Mathew and the water reservoir, which offers one of the most enchanting landscapes in this area.

Duesaigües: this village is characterized by its two impressive railway viaducts which were built at the end of the 19th century. We will know about their history and walk along the gallery of arches.

L'Argentera: Nice village characterized by its streets and houses made of red stone. L’Argentera was witness of the stays of Eduardo Toda, who reconstructed the Escornalbou Castle at the beginning of the 20th century. Toda introduced many improvements to several villages of the Barony. We will know about the history of the village and its curiosities, as well as its most remarkable constructions.

Option to visit the Castle Sant Miquel d’Escornalbou from Tuesday to Friday excepte holidays.
