Miró Mont-roig: colors and landscape of Miró in Mont-roig

Mont-roig: this village located at few kilometers from the beach and from the mountain, still preserves remains from its past: the Main street Portal, the old renaissance church and the current church from the 18th century. We will visit Miró Center, a museum placed in the old renaissance temple, and which is dedicated to de great painter Joan Miró. The artist spent several periods in his family masia since the year 1911. Miró found in Mont-roig a landscape full of colors: the red of the mountain, the blue of the sky, the yellow of the flowers… We will discover the painter’s works, which were inspired by this village.

Mare de Déu de la Roca hermitage: Near Mont-roig we find on a hill this emblematic hermitage which is documented since the 13th century. Restored after de Independence War, this place still preserves the spiritual atmosphere framed in an exceptional location characterized by the capricious shapes of the red rocks that we the mountain has. It’s also worth enjoying the panoramic views on Costa Dorada region. Some meters higher up we find the Sant Ramon hermitage, too. It was represented in Miró’s work.
